About

I'm Aniela. I build websites that get found.

Brooklyn-based web designer and developer. Fourteen years in, most of them spent running the websites of a major retailer, now doing that same work for NYC small businesses and startups.

Introduction

The short version

I design and build custom, responsive websites, and I specialize in making sure they actually get seen: on Google, in AI-generated answers, and everywhere in between. ANIE.LA is operated by ANIELA LLC.

Before this I spent eleven years at Hudson's Bay Company in New York, the last four leading its content engineering team. That meant running website production for a retailer operating around the clock across international markets: campaign launches, platform standards, accessibility, page speed, and the structured data that decides whether a page gets understood by a search engine or ignored by it. Everything I do now is that job, scaled down to fit a business that doesn't have a department for it.

There's one of me, and that's the point: the person you talk to on the first call is the person writing the code. No account managers, no handoffs, no telephone game between you and whoever actually builds the thing.

Experience

Where I've done it

Founder & Principal Consultant

ANIE.LA (ANIELA LLC), Brooklyn, New York

July 2025 – present

A digital practice spanning my own content properties and client work. I build and run websites end to end, from product direction through technical build to audience growth, and consult on search and AI-search strategy for other people's.

  • Built and operate HowIsTheSargassum.com, a real-time Caribbean beach conditions tracker that ranks #1 on Google and is cited by name in ChatGPT and Perplexity answers.
  • Grew it into recurring revenue through display advertising and affiliate partnerships, managing monetization across Google AdSense, Mediavine and Raptive.
  • Direct SEO, AEO and GEO strategy for clients, positioning them to be found in traditional search and in AI tools.

Content Engineering Manager

Hudson's Bay Company (New York, New York)

April 2021 – June 2025

Led the content engineering team behind a retailer running 24/7 e-commerce and marketing across international markets, on Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

  • Built, hired and mentored the team, and introduced the feedback systems and workflow changes that made it faster.
  • Set development standards for code quality, accessibility and site performance: the things that decide whether a large site indexes reliably and loads fast.
  • Ran large-scale campaign launches and day-to-day site operations without downtime.
  • Worked with UX and engineering to ship new site capabilities, including custom page templates and reusable content structures.
  • Improved JavaScript rendering, crawlability and structured data so search engines, and later AI engines, could read the content properly.
  • Guided content strategy with A/B testing and analytics rather than opinion.

Senior Web Producer

Hudson's Bay Company (New York, New York)

August 2014 – April 2021

Front-end development and content operations across the company's digital properties: site, mobile and app.

  • Owned content delivery through enterprise CMS platforms, keeping brand and experience consistent at scale.
  • Planned and executed multi-channel publishing and promotional campaigns with e-commerce and marketing leadership.
  • Handled daily site operations: maintenance, troubleshooting, and keeping the platform stable.
  • Established the front-end standards the team worked to, including responsive design and performance budgets.

Frontend Developer

Weitz & Luxenberg PC (New York, New York)

July 2012 – August 2014

Built and optimized digital experiences for a national plaintiffs' law firm, across web, mobile and CMS.

  • Developed marketing campaigns, landing pages and responsive interfaces.
  • Architected and maintained content-driven sites and blogs so non-technical staff could publish without a developer.
  • Translated what the legal and business teams needed into things that could actually be built and maintained.
