Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit anie.la, how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is run by ANIE.LA, a freelance web design and search optimization practice based in Brooklyn, New York.

Information you choose to send

If you use the contact form, it sends your name, email address and message to the inbox at i@anie.la. That information is used only to reply to you and to discuss a possible project. It is not sold, not added to a mailing list, and not shared with anyone else, apart from the email and hosting providers that deliver and store the message.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this one collects some information automatically when you visit:

• Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use it, such as which pages are viewed, how long visits last, the general location (city or country) and the type of device and browser. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. The data is reviewed in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.
• Advertising. The How Is The Sargassum? case study page shows ads served by Google AdSense. No other page on this site shows ads. See the advertising section below for details.
• Contact form protection. To stop spam, the form keeps a one-way hashed version of the sender's IP address with submission times, used only to limit repeated submissions. Submissions that are blocked as spam are recorded in a private server log that includes the IP address. These records are not publicly accessible and are not used for any other purpose.
• Hosting and fonts. The web host may record standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and maintenance. Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers to download them.

Advertising and cookies

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's My Ad Center. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

Your choices

• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them, though ads may be less relevant.
• You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• You never have to use the contact form. If you would like a message you sent to be deleted, email i@anie.la and it will be removed.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and no personal information is knowingly collected from them.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
